About Geoff
Geoff has had a keen interest in gardening, designing and nature from a very early age. He learnt a lot from his Grandfather, who was a very knowledgeable gardener, about growing vegetables and identifying birds.
When Geoff left school in 1980, he worked in the woods department at the Knepp Castle estate, in West Sussex; now famous for it's fantastic and inspirational re-wilding project.
Since then he has worked for various landscapers including Anthony Archer-Wills, who he worked for in the 1980's constructing ponds and water gardens.
In 1996 he studied Garden Design at Merrist Wood agricultural college and since then he has been designing, constructing and maintaining mainly domestic gardens in West Sussex, where he lives.
His work led him to help the Gold Medal winning garden designer Juliet Sergeant in planting her Modern Slavery Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2016 and her Edible Garden at the RHS Hampton Court flower show in 2017.
Geoff prefers to take a naturalistic approach to garden design.
He likes to use locally sourced, sustainable materials for his gardens and specializes in planting a mix of native and ornamental plants, trees and shrubs, to create interesting and practical planting schemes that also benefit birds, bees and other vitally important pollinating insects.
Geoff's aim is to create beautiful outdoor environments, that benefit both people and nature, for a sustainable future.
Our wild areas are under great pressures at the moment, due to our increasing population. Housing, traffic and industrial farming are all taking a toll on our wildlife and natural countryside. If we don't act now many species will disappear eternally. However, every small action can make a difference and by making a space in your garden, no matter how small, we can help nature to recover. Our gardens, collectively make up huge areas of land which together can become important nature reserves.
Careful garden planning and design, can ultimately minimize the need for garden maintenance and intervention.
